Normal, I guess

After an unfortunately extended move (thanks to Comcast and a damaged power switch), my server is back up safely, now in Boston. Meanwhile, I'm safely ensconced in Paris for almost two weeks.

I'm way behind on posting photographs for a theoretical portfolio, and I think I'm going to hold off for a while. It was a fun experiment, and I'll probably do similiar things again.

It's great to be back in Paris, but very different-

  1. I'm travelling by myself
  2. I'm staying with friends
  3. Some of those friends have households with members who don't speak much English
  4. They all have free Internet for me to use
  5. It's not nearly as hot as last summer

So overall this time has been much more like living here. I think (3) has been the biggest difference and the most fun so far- I feel really lame for coming into their home without being fluent, but it's enjoyable trying to make sense of the French, and of course everybody has been incredibly nice about speaking English to include me in conversations and translating as needed.

Also the jetlag this time included an extra night of taking a 2am bus from Boston to New York, so I still feel extremely removed from time and the world.
